About John

John SarsfieldJohn Sarsfield has been a teacher, administrator and educator for 42 years. During that time, he has been principal, Dean of Academics, Dean of Faculty, department head, residential house director and teacher in a number of schools across Canada, and internationally. Currently, he is a post-secondary planner in a prestigious West Coast independent school.

Over the course of his career, he has taught subjects ranging from English to math and science, as well as philosophy and economics. He has created courses in English studies, the philosophy and history of science, and general philosophy. He has done analyses of school organization and culture for a variety of educational institutions, and has coached sailing, basketball, hockey and rugby, co-directing a school musical.

John's interests include sailing and nautical architecture, environmental sustainability, employment of senior workers, and organizational renewal. He is currently engaged in research for a book, tentatively called Shakespeare on Management. He holds a M. A. in English Literature and a M. Ed. in Administrative Studies.

John lives in Chemainus on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, with his wife, Sandra, a lawyer.
